As the days grow shorter and the air turns drier and crisp, autumn invites us to look inward, slow down, and take stock of how we're caring for ourselves. It's one of my favourite seasons for self-care — the routines just feel that much more intentional when there's a chill in the air, and we can just get cozy.
Protect and Nourish as the Air Cools
Cooler temperatures, wind chill and indoor heating can zap moisture from your skin faster than you can say 'but honey it's cold outside'. Embrace the season's transition by switching to richer, more nourishing formulas. Look for soaps and scrubs with hydrating ingredients, and follow up with a heavier body butter or oil to lock in the moisture (your skin will thank you for it).

Embrace the Warm Scent Shift
Autumn is the season of warm, grounding aromas — cedarwood, clove, cinnamon, patchouli, and sweet orange. These scents don't just smell incredible; they're also deeply calming and grounding, perfect for settling into the slower pace of the season. Frankincense just doesn't get talked about enough, and if you're feeling particularly phlegmy, it's an amazing expectorant and a great base essential oil if your immune system is feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Creating your Cosy Evening Ritual
The earlier sunsets are practically an invitation to wind down earlier. Try integrating some of these into your autumn evening routine:
- A warm shower with an exfoliating scrub to ease tension
- Rich body lotion or oil applied while skin is still slightly damp
- Light a candle or diffuse a warming blend (try clove + sweet orange + cedarwood)
- Ten minutes of stillness — no screens, just you

Autumn is a season of letting go. Your self-care routine can reflect that too — release what isn't serving you and lean into warmth, rest, and nourishment.
